Chapeltown’s first festive street market – organised by local residents the festive market will be held on December 6th outside the Reginald Centre.
Organised by local residents through the Chapeltown Development Trust the market will show case local businesses and the creativity of local artists; young people from the youth centre will help out at Santa’s Grotto while Chapeltown elders from the local sheltered housing scheme will provide home-made cakes and refreshments, hot drinks, mince pies and punch. A local small business entrepreneur will provide the ‘bouncy castle’.
Know as Leeds ‘global village’ Chapeltown in Leeds is home to people from many parts of the world and of many different faiths; the neighbourhood has a proud heritage of acknowledging all faiths; this market is a Christmas special open to everyone.
Local councillor Jane Dowson said “I’m excited at the prospect of Chapeltown’s first festive street market, this will be a great opportunity for local people to get together and for children to have a great afternoon. We have a lot of good things going on in Chapeltown and I’m very pleased to support this great event for our residents”
Santa will drop in to visit the market between 4.00 – 6.30pm after which the local choir; Community Choral will sing Christmas carols.
